This is what happens when you don’t read a pattern fully before plunging in. Darn.

I’ve just gone through the Short rows jacket pattern again and realised what I thought was the back is actually one front panel. Daaaaaaaaaaarn. And dang.

So, am I frogging? Nope.

This little baby will just have to be inventively worked. Darn. It will entail picking up stitches on the other side. It just shows you that a more experienced (or attentive) knitter would have known how such patterns work and would have cast on for the front anyway.

If only the pattern had said “Cast on 60 sts for the front right (or left) panel.”

Anyhow, since my yarn is a thicker gauge than the one in the pattern, the 30 ridges called for in the pattern would be too broad a front panel and I’d have to modify the pattern in any case. So I do it now. Darn.

Young lady, let that be a lesson to you!

Bloopy is now oval after an encounter with the frog. Since the original pattern was a rectangle, I’m on my own on this one…I like the stitch, though, which gives me loops without the Loopy stitch, which I’m scared to try!

And yes, those are my new stitchmarkers, put to work speedily.

I’m calling this “Bloopy” in honour of Loopy-the-Sheep, but it will be turning into a bathmat. Regular readers will remember the G.U.M. (Green Unholy Mess) from some time ago. The pattern is from here.

I’m disappointed, however, to report that my new Q hook isn’t being used for this….The yarn isn’t thick enough.

And just to be upfront, it hasn’t baa-ed yet.

Cordelia is having a WIP & UFO Busting week and wants partners in crime…Any takers? Go on, go and join her!

Yes, I do crochet. **vigorous nod** In fact on my hook(s) right now I have two doilies. One is for my Crochetville Doily swap, and the other is a pattern I’m testing. Being as they are both confidential, I cannot reveal either one either by name or author….But be patient, and you will see pictures of at least one before the week is out…

Boo hoo!
I thought I was using the same yarn! And it looks identical in some light, including in the fluorescent light when I used it last night. But in daylight and in flash conditions, here is what we have!!! There be ghosts and ghouls and yarns that change colour unseen…
Bolero
I bought it all at the same time, except some of it has been languishing inside a metal bureau for some time. Do you suppose that was why it changed colour? **scratching head** Besides, it looks different only under the influence of flash or light through a window that has a sunfilm. Weird!

Here is how the yarn that I’m using looks. It’s very soft and about 10 wraps per inch. I bought it in Delhi, in unlabelled hanks.
Yarn
I’m using a Pony 6 hook (5 mm) and the cardigan is working up very fast, just as I like! I’m a pattern tester for the first time. Yay!

I’m making a “Breakfast set” from this book and you can see the cover here.
This is supposed to be for my SIL who will be visiting at the end of this month. Old readers will know by now that means it will probably not be finished in time, but let’s see. Maybe I’ll break my own record here. :0

My current doily is the Fans and Fantasies vintage pattern from Crochet Paradise, which I am crocheting as part of my doily_of_the_month. Although it was last month’s doily, I am enjoying catching up. 🙂
