Look what my SIL brought me today. They were in NZ in February. This is, I think, a Teko/Tiki. Any Kiwis out there who can tell me more about this, please? Thanks!

Peggy’s Sunshine Garden doily (link is now defunct. Crochet Paradise is sorely missed) for my doily_of_the_month Yahoo group. Only mine looks more like Peggy’s Been Splashing In The Mud doily! Whatever you may have to say, I LIKE BROWNS!!! So there!

Peggy's Sunshine Garden doily

Breakfast set partly completed. I’m thinking of having these laminated.
Has anyone got any of their crochet laminated? What are your experiences? Do tell me.

Table set

This is my latest acquisition, as usual without proper gauge, although it does say “No. 8-c 1000”, whatever that means! And I’m using it to make these: a breakfast set from the book Take Up Crochet. Isn’t the colour combination wonderful!

These are the three coasters that I’ve made so far. I’m currently working on the larger placemat that goes with them. I haven’t made up my mind whether I will make 1, 3 or 6 of these.
1: is if I get too bored with working on the same pattern for too long
3: is because my SIL, husband and kid makes 3 people
6: is usually a set

Given my attention span, which would you guess? 🙂
The pattern calls for size 5 crochet cotton, with a 1.75 mm hook. The only thing I’ve got right (apart from the colours, which is a lucky coincidence!) is that the thread is cotton. I’m using a 2.00 mm hook.
What I don’t understand, is, by my reckoning, size 5 thread would be thicker than the one I’m using, while a 1.75 mm hook would be much thinner. So how does that go? **scratching head**
Well, all I can say is, none of the things I make are as their designers intended. LOL!

Update: Sheila, yes, it is thread and not yarn that I’m working with. Haven’t yet seen yarn packaged this way here. Besides, I think the photo is kind of deceptive about the size of the skeins.

I’m making a “Breakfast set” from this book and you can see the cover here.
This is supposed to be for my SIL who will be visiting at the end of this month. Old readers will know by now that means it will probably not be finished in time, but let’s see. Maybe I’ll break my own record here. :0

Sehr interessantes!
Must try to get my hook around this pattern some time.
German crochet pattern (for a doily,I think)

This is the Shamrock doily for my doily_of_the_month Yahoo! group. Remember what I told you earlier about running out of thread just before I finished? This is the result.

And this is what I would have to buy to finish it:

Uh-huh! I don’t think so!

Long, long ago, before….anyway, this is my Mom’s Crystal doily from Panda Crochet for my doily_of_the_month Yahoo! group. Sorry for the fuzzy effect. You do not need to blink.

The Simple doily from Nancy Hearne’s website, for my doily_of_the_month. It was a major relief to work with size 10(?) thread, and this doily works up really fast, too.

This is from the reincarnated website of Denise Augostine. I cannot give a direct link to the pattern, but here is the homepage of Denise Augostine’s Crochet Paradise. She seems to be missing the picture, though. I used a finer gauge thread, so the doily is smaller than the pattern indicated. After doing this I feel like I don’t want to look another cluster in the face!!!
