I’ve joined the Dishcloth KAL (can be CAL, too) and can’t wait to start my first one. Acrylics have been certified as acceptable, so Off I’ll Go!Wheeee.

Here’s the button:

Another cotton Sugar and Cream FO. This time it’s a facecloth from the Dishcloth Boutique. I decided to make one of the patterns without a picture, just like that. I’m quite happy with the result, except I don’t see any eyelets in the border. Maybe I knit too tight.

This finished the skein of the Sugar and Cream. So I got two ****cloths (dish, wash, face, whatever!) out of one 2.5 oz (70.9 gm) skein. Nice. I probably wouldn’t be able to crochet two full pieces, but knit is possible.

Details:

Yarn: Sugar and Cream in Cornflower Blue. The other half of the skein left over from the Round Dishcloth.

Needles: Pony 3.75 mm (UK 9/US 5) straights

Pattern: Eyelet Border Facecloth from the Dishcloth Boutique

Time: Overnight

Size: 8.5″ x 7.75″

Extra: #1 New stitch pattern learnt! And without a picture, too 😀

#2 I literally had less than an inch of yarn left over at the end. Gasp!

The Dishcloth Boutique is a great place to practise and learn new stitches. They have both crochet and knit patterns. Now if I could only arrange for an uninterrupted supply of cotton yarn or find a good substitute for it here.

Since I’m so pleased with myself about this thing, some more pictures of the neat marching rows of stitches:

Dang. WordPress isn’t letting me upload any more pics. Must be tired of faded blue knit pictures. Sigh.

With Peaches n Creme yarn that I got from Kat for the August CAT PAC.
My dishcloth #2, the pattern on the wrapper is just rows of hdc, and I used size I hook, one size higher than recommended, Crystalites. The hook was also part of the same CAT PAC.

I love the colour repeat! Guess what desktop wallpaper I have on my PC right now 😀

And yes, I’m still alive!

Reporting from Hyderabad, where I’ve been for the past couple of weeks at my parents’ place. Struggled with the old computer a few days, and yesterday finally I upgraded it, so now it’s faster.

While I’ve been here, I’ve made my first cotton dishcloth, with the Sugar n’ Cream in Summer Splash that Grace sent me for my June CAT PAC. This was my first-ever cotton yarn, so I was really fighting against using it for something so mundane as a dishcloth, but I’ve given it to my mother, so maybe that makes it special enough. I used the pattern given on the wrapper, except using the same colour for the edging instead of a contrast. Here it is:

I love how soft it feels!

For the first time, I managed to create something by just looking at something someone else made, and without a written pattern! Yay! So even though it isn’t anything complex, I’m still proud of it! It’s with Red Heart thread (100g ball) in grey, size 20.
I love FOs *grin*.

Jacqui (Petunia) had sent me this in my July CAT PAC:

My first-ever completed towel topper! I’d made one the other night, but was too lazy to hunt for a matching button, so when Pam aka Navymom at Crochetville posted the no-button towel toppers she made and the links to the pattern, I didn’t have an excuse! Presenting my towel topper, made shoddily with refrogged yarn and photographed in poor light:

I do have FOs, I do!
Scrubbie with GUM, made using the magic square pattern. The hook is to show the size.
