I heard from my Doily Swap partner (who’s sending to me) that my doily (her doily?) is ready to be mailed. Yay!
I succeeded in thoroughly confusing her, I think,
because she made the mistake of asking me was nice enough to ask me how she should mail it to me. Now, a month ago, she would have gotten a straightforward “I don’t know” from me. But since my foray into the world of Swaps, Wishlists, RAOKs and PACs, I am at a loss to tell her what to do….Remember that PAC of mine that went missing?
I’ve since learnt that another has joined it in the stratosphere and was mailed around the same time….Something in the stars, maybe? hmmm. Maybe I should have asked the people in Discovery to keep an eye out for any letters/packages floating around with my name on them. But I guess they had their own worries, right?!
Anyway, I told her regular mail should do fine. Any comments, all you fairies and elves out there?
Meanwhile, on my hook, is that pattern I’m testing for Kathy. Using some of that lovely cream Size 40 Anchor thread that I bought a couple of weeks ago. It involves beads, being the overcautious freak person that I am, I went and strung all the beads that I had bought. Sure enough I ended up tangling the thread.
Luckily, the pattern anyway calls for lots of fastening-offs, so my conscience isn’t troubling me too much about the swipe I took with the scissors. Now I’m bead-free until the next time beads are called for…Can you guess this is the first time I’ve ever worked with beads?
Ok, I’ve been tagged (first-time ever!) by Cordelia and Sara and am all thumbs as I try and do this right….
Ok, so here goes:
id•i•o•syn•cra•sy – a structural or behavioral characteristic peculiar to an individual or group. Write down 5 of your own idiosyncrasies, then if you wish, tag 5 people.
1. I spend most of my days lounging is what are called “nighties”, which are long loose garments meant for, you guessed it, bedwear! Sridhar hates that 😀
2. I am very opinionated, but if you ask me for my view or advice, I always suffix my words with “But…” (Just trying to cover my butt if it doesn’t work out for you, you know?)
3. I have an uncontrollable urge to constantly play with something with my left hand, whenever it is free (currently it is my Mangalasutram, the sign of marriage, sort of like a wedding ring, except it is a necklace)
4. I always get nervous about being on time for trains/buses/planes, and more often than not (unless I’m travelling with Sridhar) reach before the train has even arrived on the platform.
5. Each time we leave the house I remind Sridhar to take his wallet, I Card, keys and cellphone…
Ok, let’s see…Whom do I tag now? I have a feeling most of them will already have been tagged, but anyway, hopefully, they also read my blog! Sheila, Andrea, Courtney, Drew(gasp!) and Karla, you’re it! (Or should that be “You’re them!”
7 people came to my site by searching for “crochet cocoon sweater”. 2 each looked for “postcrossing” and “poncho pattern crochet 3.50mm hook” (ouch!). 1 each looked for “free crochet baby hat patterns using size 10 thread” (yikes!) and “etaria crochet”.
Yay! For the first time in weeks, someone has actually come to my blog via a search engine. I never did find out
what a “GAP guru” was, which the only previous search term used to find my blog.
More goodies in the mail today, woohoo! From Michele over at Crochetville, I got more Christmas in July-in August goodness. She sent me two delicately-worked bookmarks and a card filled with stardust! Thank you so much, Michele!
And then I got my second postcard from postcrossings. This is from Wyando from Germany, who is on holiday in Sweden. I love the kitten! Wyando is, by the way, webmaster for the German support site for Bookcrossings.

Just this morning I blogged about PostCrossing.com, and already I got my first postcard. From Thorsten in Germany, showing the Schwarzwald in winter. (Maybe it can be called Weisswald…just kidding).
Just thought I’d mention two interesting net-movements I’ve signed up for recently.
One is BookCrossing.com, which involves reading a book, registering it on the website and then “releasing” it, which means you just leave it in a public place for anybody to pick and take away, or give it away to someone. I thought it was a cool idea, and first heard of it from a friend’s signature on Crochetlist.
The other is a phenomenon in its infancy, PostCrossing.com and is basically a list of people who send each other postcards from all over the world. Sort of like penfriends, except, whether you continue corresponding or not depends entirely on you. I heard of this from Barbara aka Nashville Crocheter.
Check this out at Deneen’s blog: an email she got.
Got it off Soapbox‘s blog.
